ThingTesting Feature & Building Sleep or Die While Quietly Prepping Launch 002 🔴
The biggest growth spikes, the painful shipping lesson, and what’s coming next...
It’s one of those weeks where the plane is midair, but I’ve already jumped. Logistics, launch planning, and supply chain backflips are in motion, while I’m still holding space for what matters most: building Sleep or Die with intention.
This week had some real highs, a few unexpected plot twists, and a reveal that only paid readers will see below.
But first, here’s what’s happening above the surface:
🔻 1. The Tariff Scramble
If you’ve been watching the US tariff headlines… yes, we’re in it.
I was originally going to hit pause entirely on US orders until our next shipment arrives and the US 3PL is up and running in early May.
But on Wednesday afternoon, somewhere between back-to-back calls and me stress-refreshing my inventory tracker, I stumbled across a tiny Shopify app that might solve everything so we could continue capturing every possible conversion.
Enter: a coder based in Portugal who, on a whim, helped me set up an auto-triggered preorder system for US IP addresses only. Best part is that the customer is not charged until the product ships.

Rest of the world:
The app worked like magic, and I sent him an email-
This guy was the MVP of the week.
And guess what? People are converting no problem. I guess good things are worth waiting for. Persephone would agree.
Safe to say, it’s scrappy, but it works.
🔴 2. Our Things Testing Feature Hit
This was a big one. Things Testing surprised us and featured Sleep or Die last week and traffic + conversions spiked.
What hit me most wasn’t just the volume, but the resonance.
People are craving something different in the sleep category. Something that cuts through the softness and speaks to the truth of what it actually feels like to not sleep well. That feature sent us a surge of new eyes, and we’re ready to meet them.
🔥 3. The Barcode Mistake I Won’t Repeat
Here’s the truth. I was moving fast. And in trying to plan for a seamless US transition, I shipped our entire next PO to our US 3PL, without barcodes.
Worse? I didn’t triple-check how much Canada inventory we had left... which turned out to be only two weeks' worth.
So now I have to choose:
Pay to ship a portion back from the US to Canada
Place a whole new MOQ order to Canada
Either way? It’s a costly fix.
Lesson learned: Split your PO shipments between markets, every time.
Even better? Slow down when you’re in panic mode. Mistakes love a rush.
